Kinetic Defence is the leading supplier of recruitment solutions to the Defence and Aerospace industries. Our client is currently looking for a Design Drafting Officer who is looking for a challenging role with a Defence industry leader.

Under the functional guidance of the Design Leader, you will prepare complex design drafting packages for Naval and Commercial Marine engineering and other general engineering projects. This includes the preparation of original detailed design drawings, specifications and material requirements together with all related documentation and follow up action.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan operations and or processes required to complete allocated design tasks, including estimation of requirements of staffing, material costs and quantities.
• Work under guidance, independently or as a team member.
• Comply with all relevant company Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental policies and framework and work practices with the intent of preventing or minimising accidental exposures to self, colleagues, visitors and/or the environment.
• General supervision over technical and other personnel allocated to assist on assigned tasks.
• Assist in the provision of on-the-job training in conjunction with supervisors and trainers.
• Perform drafting , technical and administrative functions under the guidance of the relevant design leader.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Appropriate National Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Relevant experience in drafting, technical and task management.
• Experience in the use of CAD is essential and 3D Modelling software packages highly desirable. Experience in Solidworks is highly desirable.
• Must have/be eligible to obtain Australian Defence Industry Security Clearance (ESSENTIAL). Applicants must be Australian citizens.
